We are getting married at St Helen’s Church Abingdon, at a church that means a great deal to Lucy and her family. Following the ceremony we will celebrate with our reception at The Post - 20 minutes down the road near Newbury.
As our ceremony and reception venues are in different locations, there are a few travel arrangements to consider. We hope the information below helps make planning your trip as easy as possible.
WHERE TO STAY
As the reception and evening celebrations will take place near Newbury, we recommend staying close to The Post rather than in Abingdon. There are a range of nearby options to suit everyone.
Newbury is located 1 hour from London, or a 39 minute train journey from London Paddington. The below hotel options are about a 10 minute drive from Newbury station.
For guests staying at either Donnington & Co. or Donnington Grove, we will be arranging transport to the church before the ceremony. Please indicate on your RSVP if you would like us to save you a seat.

We are arranging coaches to take guests from selected hotels (Donnington & Co; Donnington Grove) to the ceremony. Please indicate on your RSVP if you would like to be included in this.
If you are travelling directly to the church, Abingdon does not have its own railway station but several nearby stations provide good connections. However - as you will know - services can be unreliable (particularly at weekends!).

Didcot Parkway (8 miles) – regular Great Western Railway services including direct trains from London Paddington. Travelling here will offer the most direct route to Abingdon.

Oxford (7 miles) – served by GWR, Chiltern Railways and CrossCountry services.
Taxis and buses are available from both stations - although we would recommend planning your onward journey in advance.
There is no parking immediately outside the church. Please leave plenty of time to park and walk over to St Helen's.

GETTING TO THE RECEPTION
We are providing buses between the church and The Post. This promises to be a fun part of the day and we encourage those who are able to do so to travel this way (versus making your own way between venues). Please indicate on your RSVP whether you intend to hop on the bus, so we can save you a seat!
Alternatively - for those driving themselves - the journey from the church takes approximately 20–25 minutes via the A34.
There is plenty of free parking at The Post. Cars may be left overnight, but please do collect them by 10:30 am the following morning.
Please note: storage space at The Post is limited. Please keep that in mind if you are travelling directly to the church on the morning of the wedding and bringing luggage with you!
